Sourcing Relics

Colorado Proud

As Colorado natives we take pride in supporting local artists, and sourcing oddities from surrounding farmers, hunters, and found items. Almost all of our antiques come from local estate sales and auctions. If you ever find yourself wondering how something was acquired feel free to ask and we can share its history. We are also currently working on raising a beetle colony to be able to clean our own specimens, be on the look out for more information.

We are always looking to add to our collection, if you or someone you know would be interested in a partnership please reach out!

Ethically Sourced Products

Ethical can have different meanings to a lot of different people. Here at the Odd Aly-Kat Emporium our view of ethically sourced items is that they are not killed maliciously, and pose no threat to the ecosystem they belong to.

We want to ensure the specimens we sell are never harmed for our gain. We ensure that the items we carry are ethically sourced and legally obtained. We will not sell any species on the endangered or protected list, unless they qualify as antiques by US and Colorado law. (The Endangered Species Act is the only Federal wildlife law that addresses the concept of an “antique,” and the statute specifies that such items must be at least 100 years old.) We strictly don't deal with poachers, (trophy) hunters, cullers, game keepers or anything who supports these practices. Also we don't deal with remains killed by pest control either.

You will not find bats for sale in this establishment. The practice of bat  poaching has become a large issue all over the world. Bats don't breed well in captivity and are not farmed. Any specimen you see for sale is an animal that has been removed from the wild. You will however see a few bats in our private collection. These bats are Brighton, Colorado natives and unfortunately passed of natural causes during our construction.
